Its been a loooong time since I last blogged. I think this post is going to be long so hang in there and read till the end. So I'll start by talking about last week, Tuesday, 27th October, when I went to the icool event by TP. Its the launch of the thermometer badge (TB) and here are some pictures of the thermometer, take a look (with labels =P, not APA style though):

The event was filled with MANY performances by TPDE. However, some of us felt out of place again for reasons I shall not mention.

Then the week went by with Wednesday dance, project meetings on Thursday and Friday and doing nothing on Saturday and going to church on Sunday...

And then came the STRESS!
Project Proposal for a reasearch project is due this Sunday! AHHH! And because we are doing on the construct of emotional distance and trust, there are not many works in the field in which we can research and review on ( we are probably the first in the field to do a research on these two constructs, aiseh!). So it was a hard process searching for articles and reviewing them, kudos to Audrey and Jeremy for finding so many articles! I love my team! Even though it might be considered by many as the most weirdly constructed team ( I need Allison to help me fix this part cause she's the ang-moh expert).

Went for dance this Wednesday and realised...Popping was cancelled for the day! Arghh! Spent one and a half hours at the top floor of East Point reading Physiological Psychology (Yawns). Its a good place to study though cause all the tuition centres are there...keke =P. Locking was fierce though and I came back pretty tired.

Hi. I'm back! Hmm...what to post about? Guess I'll start with DANCE! Learnt a new pop this week again, the neck pop! Super difficult. After a few pops and your neck feels super stiff. Must learn and practice in moderation. Looking for dance classes at the nearby CC. Hope they have good Hip Hop Classes to attend and not those kiddie ones or the auntie ones.

I'm in Program for HSS FO! Yay! Looking forward to join TPSU's FO. Its super super interesting and fun. Hope to learn from them and bring it back to HSS too.

All the projects storming in already during the first week of school. Don't understand a lot of the new subjects. Its foundation psych stuff but much much more chim.

To my JC friends who might kena retain...come poly! Haha. Just Kidding. Work hard and if you need help for physics can ask me! Haha, kidding again. If you need help seek help, you didn't pay those school fees for nothing (although is relatively low, but still, you paid)

Woohoo! First day of school was G.R.E.A.T! Many people feel gloomy when school starts. I say the key to keep the gloom away is to be optimistic about everything that comes your way. Everyone wants to be friends with Happy Harry not Pessimistic Pete! Besides being optimistic, there's also a secret to keep the back to school blues away- go back to school regularly during the holidays so that when school starts, it seems like a normal day! This sounds a little sad life right, but I think it works for me. Of course I didn't go back to school just for the sake of going back, I had meetings, discussions, projects etc to do.

Received a really good piece of news today- my CDS (Over the Counter Medication) has no lectures for THE ENTIRE SEMEMSTER! Yes arh! Now I can continue with my popping and locking at StudioWu EastPoint on Wednesdays! Feels good! I realised that my blog posts have many exclamation marks! I am a ji dong person! Haha!

Studies show that teens have a generation gap with their parents. I beg to differ. I listen to James Brown, Sly and the Family Stones and Earth,Wind and Fire like my mother! Haha! All the songs bring back memories from the past for my mum.

Dance yesterday was awesome. I'm improving! YAY! There was this one uncle who joined the class, he was ok-ok during popping, but during locking, man he brought the house down with the funk! He was dancing and singing and feeling the groove. No wonder they say jiang shi lao de la.

Michael said that my locks and wrist twirls look better now (that's real good), but still have to work and my technique and groove. Going to work it till I get it, hopefully, before the auditions for TPDE next year. Learnt a new pop in popping class today called the breath pop (how cool is that). Marcus (popping instructor) said that to get the pop is like when you shitting, you make the "erghmmm" sound, but really fast, like less than a second. Then hearing that it was really like the shitting sound, he changed to "hiak", like what Luo Zhi Xiang always say,to create the pop using the diaphragm. How cool is that! Practicing it right now as I type this

Last 2 days of holiday. I got Over the Counter Medication as my CDS. At first I thought it was Panadol and Lemsip, but after thinking, I don't think it will be so easy. Luckily got friends in the same CDS, or else I sianz liao. I can't believe Jonathan (Wong) who put Sociology as his last choice got it but I didn't even though it was my first choice. Stupid TP system.

TP is going to launch a Temperature Badge (TB) thing, which takes your temperature and shows if you are having a fever or not. Sounds and looks very Star Trek like. Once I get it I'll put it up here for you to see. Maybe its an old product but I mountain tortoise so dunno.

Timetable came out today, seems pretty good. Monday to Wednesday a lot of things but Thursday and Friday quite free. Thank God for that.

Going out to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs tomorrow, hope they still screen it!

Temasek League Series

Temasek League Series! Sounds so competitive and fierce. Well its kinda fierce among other clubs but none of the teams were fierce to HSS, probably because our team were made up of the most nonathletic people, including a retired basketballer who now knows he can't jump as high as he used to, run as fast as he used to and throw the ball as far as he used to. Luckily he can still boogie...I think =P...

After the Temasek League Series, my lovely secretary of HSSSC, Jonathan and I, decided to write out all the upcoming events so reminders can be sent out to all so that we can have more turnout at all the events. Good thinking! Great minds think alike I'll say. =D

School Stuff and more school stuff

Bonkers meeting today was shorter than I had expected. The race seems like fun with many crazy games. Although the racers and planning committee would be getting very very little sleep. Hope it turns out well. Going back for Temasek League Series tomorrow followed by council meeting. The Temasek League series was sudden cause we forgot about it.

Wednesday is dance day again, really looking forward to it. I think I've gotten better over the weeks. Hope so!

School is starting in a week's time. The time table better be good, or else I'll get angry, and when I get angry, I'll!.... keep the anger inside...=P

I realised that most blogs have a post which is shooting someone, yet does not mention the person's name:

"Some people are just so irresponsible and selfish. You know who you are, I won't mention names. You hurt me so bad and you didn't even apologize."

This is just an example ah! I'm not shooting anyone. But it's quite interesting that all blogs have one of these post. I guess its a basic post all blogs must have before it is considered a blog that people read!

Busy, yet not so busy

I got into APEC/ABAC Volunteers Group, don't know if I should be happy or stressed out. They didn't tell me my position and role of involvement yet, not until I go for my first training tomorrow at Bishan,Kuo Chuan Presbyterian S.S. So FAR! Heartware says they will not recruit fats but somehow I think they are. Oh well, will have to go to find out a lot of things.

Dance on Wednesday was a blast! Despite the fact that I took two classes instead of one, I perspired less. Maybe I was enjoying the dance more than concentrating on the moves. Maybe thats why I felt and looked better. Still, lots of room for improvement and waiting for that handicam!

Monday going back to school, AGAIN! for Bonkers Meeting. Its an Island Wide Amazing Race organised by TP Sports Club. The work keeps coming during the last two weeks...haizzz...the first four weeks so free...

No internet and phone for three days, finally revived today! The problem lied in the faulty mIO box. Singtel technician came and change the old grey and black to a slick white one. So can blog once again.

Going for dance later in the evening. Will leave house earlier so that I won't miss popping at 6:30pm. Looking for one of those pocket video cameras with HD (but also can take photo) to video down my dance. Anybody knows about these kinda stuff? Please recommend this tech idiot what to buy. Thank Q

Holidays coming to an end, 1.2 is going to start. Will be very busy with all the HSSSC stuff, APEC (if I get in) and Chingay (if I get in). Note to all HSS students, please ready a team from your class for inter-class games!

New Hat

Went to Bugis Street today with my mum, The place is a maze! But after walking through the entire place, I realised that only a few shops had what I want or catered to what I want. So look look see see, and finally bought a hat! I got my Grandma to model it for me!

The funkiness is in the family! Haha!
My mum also bought a pair of sandals from Bugis Street (my mum also quite hip hor?)

Going out tomorrow with Adwyna and Alicia to Orchard.More shopping!
And I think I've got more groove to my dance so I'll see what Michael says on Wednesday. Going for my first popping class too since I missed it last week. Gotta leave house earlier, the bus service not reliable at all!

Went for dance on Wednesday night. Arrived at StudioWu late, then their Nets machine could not work, so had to go from 3rd floor to 1st floor to draw money. By the time I got back to pay, I missed 20mins of the popping class and thus decided to just wait for locking class...40mins later!

Michael(my dance instructor) said I lack the groove and dance (sadded!). Now its time to get serious *puts on serious face*. Going to practice everyday,EVERYDAY! Haha. When I'm confident of my dance I'll put up some videos, so check this page often!

On the way home at the MRT Station in Tampines, I saw the long line of procrastinators still lined up infront of the ticketing station waiting to change their EzLink card before it expires. Tsk Tsk Tsk. There was totally no queue whatsoever for like the past 1 month and nobody went to change their cards. But on the last day, Boom! everyone appears in a frantic! Procrastinators should learn to get things done quickly...they will say "can tomorrow then tell me what I should learn?"

Thursday was a looong day. Arrived at school at 11:30am to blow balloons for Community Service Club's Magical Autumn (celebrate moon cake festival). It was more fun than I had expected. Maybe because Azeemah and Hazimah were being stand up comedians for the day (if you girls are reading, Nice One Arh!) and also random jokes like "I'm really happy for you, but Izzati made the best balloon sculptures of all time!" Can't wait for FO! Hope I can be the M.C, started to think of what to say already...

Holidays are coming to an end...in about three weeks time. Didn't really do much.

Certain people just do and organise things for the sake of organising these things. Things that are not done from the heart are just actions without meaning. I hope people will understand. Don't do things just for the sake of doing!

On a lighter note, I'm starting to like American Football and the NFL. Although I don't understand the rules and sometimes I will go "HUH?", it is quite exciting to see them run the many different plays. The best part of course, is when they tackle each other to the ground.

Going to start my first popping class today. Hope it will be good and that I have the stamina to continue for two hours of dancing. Then maybe next Monday I'll be going for Hip Hop (getting myself ready for TPDE =D)

I'm back from HSSSC Retreat at Aloha Changi. Full of mosquitoes in the hall. Surprisingly, I manage to get a good night's sleep. The planning for HSS FO was super efficient and fast. Round of applause to everyone who was involved. The next batch of Year 1s will be in for a good time! I won't reveal the theme and games for now, but it will come out soon. Expect something really novel. Keyword : expect.

Going to sign up for another dance package at Studio Wu. However, my grandmother objects violently. Sad.

Hope to get into TPDE soon. They are really good. Maybe I should start videoing myself and put on YouTube for comments from other dancers. Hmmm....

Final thought : God always speaks at the right time.

Watched 5 mins of the F1 test run. A little boring. Maybe because its the second year and there's no more excitement.

Mr Lee Jia Sen said that this blog should have more about my life. He's a smart guy. He's going to win a Nobel Prize someday. Look out for him. Chemistry Nobel Prize, if I'm not wrong.

So more about my life...going for HSSSC retreat next week Monday to Wednesday. Hope its going to be fun and productive. And then Magical Autumn on 1st October.

Man!My life IS boring. Got nothing to do during the holidays. Three more weeks...

But when school start, we complain that there is not enough time to rest. And now we complain too much time (ok maybe only me). Why? Must go find out the psychology of this. If there are no theories then I shall pre-name the theory Aaron Lim's Theory of Holiday Time Perception! ( I chope the theory name liao arh! All you Freudians and Skinners and Banduras don't steal =P)

Cavs blew out Celtics

The Cleveland Cavaliers won the Boston Celtics by a large margin of 15 points today;the main contributor to the win is none other than King James himself. It was clear throughout the whole game that the Cavs were dominating,despite a 10 point Boston lead in the opening minutes of the 4th quarter. The Cavaliers have shown great improvement since the start of the 08-09 season are are now leading the Eastern Conference by 3 games over the Boston Celtics. They could be favourites to win now.

Of course, do not miss the upcoming match up between the Cavaliers and the Lakers this Friday. Check out local listings or log on to NBA.com to get a piece of the action. To add some professional flavour to this blog, I shall be weighing the upcoming match ups in the game.

Firstly,in the point guard position: Cleveland's Mo Williams against LA's Derek Fisher. Williams is a good shooter outside and inside the arc, as well as a good free throw shooter(2nd in the league) so LA will think twice about hacking him. Fisher is also a good three point and free throw shooter. However, Mo Williams seems to be better at handling the ball and protecting it. Fisher, on the other hand will most probably dish the handling work to Kobe in clutch or tight moments in the game. Thus Mo's ability frees up other teammates and this will allow Cleveland to execute more offensive plays against LA. Thus, my take is Mo Williams on this match up.

Secondly,the shooting guard position: Cleveland's Delonte West against LA's Kobe Bryant. No qualms about this match up. Kobe Bryant the better shooter,handler,defender would surely win this match up. However, we should expect LeBron James to give Kobe one on one coverage late in the thrid quarter or maybe as early as the second quarter to restrict Kobe from starting an offensive rythm.

Thridly,the small forward position: Cleveland's LeBron James against LA's Vladimir Radmonovic or Luke Walton,depending on who Phil Jackson fields. But the most likely option would be Radmonovic. Radmonovic is a good three point shooter,but would be ineffective if he is often denied the ball by James,who is often playing the passing lanes to get steals. James also drives to the basket very often and makes opponents pick up quick fouls. Thus LeBron would win this match up. However,Kobe might be shifted over to guard LeBron or help the small forward by double teaming LeBron.

Fourthly,the power forward position:Cleveland's Ben Wallace against LA's Pau Gasol. Wallace has a 3 inch heigh disadvantage against a more skilled Gasol,who can shoot the mid range jumper,post up,and get easy points in the paint with the aid of his height. However, we should watch out for Wallace,after all he is not called Big Ben for nothing. His size and strength could be crtical in this match up-allowing him to box out Gasol and get rebounds as well as block shots. This will most probably end up with a tie.

Lastly,the centre position: Cleveland's Zydrunas Illgaskas against LA's Andrew Bynum. Big Z has a 3 inch height advantage over Bynum and can shoot mid to long range jumpers if his is denied post postion. Big Z is also more experienced in the paint-grabbing rebounds and changing shots. However,Bynum is a prolific shot blocker and would cause many problems for the Clevland offense and there is little Cleveland can do. Thus I would say that this match up is also a tie.

Who will prevail? We will only know this Friday,but...my take would be LA. They have more experienced players and a deeper bench,plus they are at home.

Celtics loses 3 in a row

The Boston Celtics go on a 3 game skid, losing to under performing teams in the NBA. But Celtic fans need not worry-Boston will be back and fully energized in their next game and will most probably end their skid-their longest in this season.

On the other hand,due to Boston's three loses in a row, the Cleveland Cavaliers have moved to the top spot in the Eastern Conference by beating Charlotte 111-91. Btw, the Cavs look good in their new home outfits-blue and yellow,a refreshing change from their usual red and white.

The Cavs and Lakers now tie for the best record in the NBA this season. The deciding match to separate the two teams will be on 19/1/2009(USA-20/1/2009SG) when Cleveland goes to LA to match up.

Straits Times on LeBron James

I want to clear something for my man, LeBron James. It was printed in a Straits Times article on 29/12/2008 in the Sports section that LeBron yelled at his mother with an expletive. This is the situation:

LeBron had to say that to keep his mother in her seat. If she had gotten up and made a scene, it would be embarrassing for both LeBron and his teammates. And in that situation, I believe that it was a moment of rush that he hurled the expletive as he feels that "Please sit down" would be unable to bring the message of non-interference across to his mother.

Cavaliers beats Wizards

The Cleveland Cavaliers escaped from the hands of a first home defeat this season to one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference the Washington Wizards. To me, the Cavaliers won with a mixture of skill and luck. LeBron was unable to display his A game today, despite 2 thunderous dunks. However his teammates were able to step up and the referee's calls were going the Cavs way, allowing them to snatch victory from the Wizards.

Congratulations to the LA Lakers for beating Championship Rivals Boston Celtics. The Lakers put an end to the Celtics 19 Game Winning Streak with a score of 92-83. The Lakers did everything right this time, good offense from Kobe and Pau as well as all around team defense.

Another reason why Kobe Bryant exploded in the game offensively and defensively might be because it is the launch of his new kicks, the Zoom Kobe 4. Much controversy has shrouded the shoes, many people skeptical of its low cut, a design used rarely by basketballers and Kobe himself. Nike must be happy that Kobe managed to pull off some power plays like this one down here.

Magic squishes Hornets

The New Orleans Hornets were blown out by the Orlando Magic on Christmas day 88-68. The Magic seem to get everything right, with good interior offense from Dwight Howard and good perimeter shooting from guys like Jameer Nelson and Hedo Turkoglu. The Hornets, on the other hand, just could not handle the crazy offense of the Magic and fell by 30 points during the half. Worse still, Chris Paul was not at his A game, with 0 steals, ending his steal game run. Without Chris Paul the offense, the Hornets were lost and could not find a rythm to counter the Magic's onslaught.

Lakers losing their Touch

Lakers are losing it. Yup. No doubt. They lost two games in a row for the first time this season, first to the Miami Heat 89-87 and then to the Orlando Magic 109-106. The sad thing is, they are facing the same problem-defense. The Lakers lack defense. The only reason they can win games is because they have a good offensive night. Take away good offense, the Lakers have nothing to fall back on. Its time Phil Jackson restructures his defense before they loose 3 in a row.

On the other hand, the Boston Celtics are red hot winning 17 games in a row. They are currently favourites to win the Championship this season. Don't forget the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are hot too. LeBron is also hinting of extending his contract with the Cavaliers. They better hold onto him tight if they have hopes on a championship soon.

Boston Celtics Crushes Washington Wizards

The Boston Celtics crushed the Washington Wizards today with a score of 122-88. The Wizards seemed disorientated and out of place. Although they gathered themselves and made a run in the 3rd quarter, the Wizards were still unable to get a victory from the more experienced and talented Boston Celtics. The Wizards need their leader, Gilbert Arenas, as soon as possible. Without him, the team lacks strong leadership as well as a consistent scorer.

Phoenix and Charlotte Trades

The latest trade in the NBA sends Jason Richardson of the Charlotte Bobcats to the Phoenix Suns for Boris Diaw and Raja Bell. This move is definitely going to benefit the Phoenix Suns. Their roster is stuck with Shaq,Stoudemire and Nash,thus adding Jason Richardson would be like adding a new engine to a car,allowing Phoenix to make a run this year for the championship. If the Suns can succesfully integrate J. Rich. into their team, I believe that they might have the strength to take down the LA Lakers, who are struggling on defense right now.

Lazy Lakers Lose

The LAZY LA Lakers lose again to a struggling Sacramento Kings. And once again I blame it on their poor poor defense. Check out the reply on NBA.com.

The defense is not getting their hands in the faces of shooters. The big men are not defending the drives to the basket and are giving up on plays too quickly. The only commendable effort is by Pau Gasol,who gave his best. Kobe Bryant looks awfully complacent, I do hope that the MVP award is not getting into his head.

Well another loss in a week. The Lakers really have to pick up their game once again. Maybe Phil Jackson should change the starting line-up and allow his second unit to start games.

Someone needs to step in and save the Oklahoma Thunder before the set the NBA's worst record in a million years! They are currently 2-20 (no its not a typo, it really is two wins and twenty losses. Or they could hold fort till the next season's draft,but of course if they do that,then the possibility of setting the worst NBA record is high. Maybe they should get Stephen Marbury from the Knicks. Or maybe,MAYBE,they should get LeBron James ( I know you are laughing at this one). Maybe they should get a new coach.

OR MAYBE,OKC Thunder = no good fengshui. So they should relocate back to Seattle and become the Sonics again. I mean it really is a waste of Kevin Durant if his team stays this way.

Lakers Defense the Obvious Trouble

The LA Lakers' defense is the most obvious trouble right now for Phil Jackson. The Lakers struggled against the Indiana Pacers 2 nights ago and now blow a big lead to one of the worst teams in the NBA,the Washington Wizards (Final Score 106-104). Although the Lakers won,their defense was poor and players were unwilling to stop the ball.

The Lakers have to commit to defense if they want to win a championship this year,even if it means sacrificing points.

Finally, the Lakers lost a game to the Indiana Pacers, who so happen to be the team that beat the Boston Celtics too. (Tyco lah!)

Anyway, it was obvious that the Lakers had depth in their offense but lacked greatly in their defense. Players like Kobe,Lamar,Gasol can score. However they lack the defensive skills and lost a large lead in the 4th quarter(just like last season's finals against the Boston Celtics)

The Hornets are not getting things done they way it should be done. With a 9-6 record,it is hard to convince critics that they will survive in the playoffs this year. Surely with the acquisition of James Posey,the Hornets should have stepped their game up to a whole new level and bring the heat towards the LA Lakers.

What they should do now is get a structured defensive system, which is key to winning matches against all the teams. Chris Paul needs to lead his team well and should be ready to sacrifice whenever the team needs.

LeBron James is going to be a free agent in 2010 when his contract expires. The New York Knicks are making big changes by trading their two biggest franchise players,Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford to make space and attract King James over to New York in 2010. Is it possible? Will LeBron make a move to Madison Square Garden?

The probability of him moving to New York is about 60%. Reasons for a possible move, 1.Knicks under new coach Mike D' Antoni look like they ready for change to work towards a team that can win "multiple chanpionships",which is one of the key criteria LeBron is looking for in his team. 2. LeBron will be the franchise player of a reputable organisation and will expect a higher pay.

However I do feel that LeBron should not move to New York. Quote from Charles Barkley "It will be more significant if LeBron stays in Cleveland and wins a championship there than in New York as he is born in Cleveland".

Well,then what would make the King stay? Firstly the Cleveland Cavaliers have to show that they are a serious title contender and would have to make it to the finals again this year. Secondly, no slip ups in the team(no injuries or game deciding mistakes). Thirdly, increase his pay.

Its a blow out week in the NBA with teams winning games with an average of at least 15 points.

But the biggest shock is the Detroit Pistons,the powerhouse in the East,losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves! The same word..Defence! Where's the defence? 106-80? Are you serious? Where's AI,Tayshaun and Rasheed?! They should have stepped up against a team like Minnesota, who have a poor record in this season.

The Lakers are also struggling with defense against the Sacramento Kings, but their offense was able to pull through.

He is taking the ball by himself to the rack and attracts defenders, but instead of kicking the ball out to his shooters, he takes on the defence by himself and misses pathetically. A clear 1,2,3 standing has surfaced in the Eastern Conference of the NBA. Detroit Pistons beat the Cleveland Cavaliers and gets defeated by the Boston Celtics. Hence, 1Boston,2Detroit and 3Cleveland.

However, I do see the standings change within the next few months of play. Boston's offence is obviously not as structured as last season, although they have some go-to guys like Paul Pierce and Eddie House if the need a bucket late in the game. The Detroit Pistons are gelling with AI, however, they must improve offensively. The Cleveland Cavaliers need their players to step-up beside LeBron James to give him the help he needs during crucial 4th quarters,especially Big Z and Anderson Varajeo.

The Big Trade seems to be working out for both teams. The Detroit Pistons with Allen Iverson brought down the best team in the West,the LA Lakers,putting an end to the Laker's winning streak. On the other side, the Denver Nuggets with Chauncy Billups won the best team in the East, the Boston Celtics.

However,the Detroit Pistons lost their next game against a Shaq-less Phoenix Suns while Denver Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves. But,it is still too early to see the results of the trade. So do stay tune to these 2 teams as well as the 2 point guards and check out their progress with their new teams.

During my O levels, someone in church told me about this story that was recounted by a character in a movie.

In a land that was experiencing severe drought,two farmers were praying to God. "Please give us rain,for the land is dry and the crops cannot grow," the farmers prayed hard. However after praying, only one of the farmer went to prepare his fields for rain. Rain soon came and the farmer that prepared his field for the rain yielded harvest while the other farmer could not prepare his fields in time and did not get anything.

From this story,I learned to trust God and never doubt him. Prayers will be answered,because he is God.This story came into my mind when I was preparing for my Chinese O level exams. I got a merit for my oral and I though that my grade could not get any better. I took out my calculator to calculate the minimum number of marks that I must get to obtain an A1. The numbers were high and I thought to myself that I could never make it. Then I thought about this story and prayed.

Santa Claus: An Engineer's Perspective

There are approximately two billion children (persons under 18) in the world. However, since Santa does not visit children of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddhist (except maybe in Japan) religions, this reduces the workload for Christmas night to 15% of the total, or 378 million (according to the Population Reference Bureau).

At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that comes to 108 million homes, presuming that there is at least one good child in each. Santa has about 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 967.7 visits per second.

This is to say that for each Christian household with a good child, Santa has around 1/1000th of a second to park the sleigh, hop out, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left for him, get back up the chimney, jump into the sleigh and get on to the next house.

Assuming that each of these 108 million stops is evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false, but will accept for the purposes of our calculations), we are now talking about 1.25 km per household; a total trip of 1.22 million kilometres, not counting bathroom stops or breaks.

This means Santa's sleigh is moving at 1046.5 km per second--3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a Poky 27.4 km per second, and a conventional reindeer can run (at best) 24.2 km per hour. The payload of the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium sized Lego set (two pounds), the sleigh is carrying over 500 thousand tons, not counting Santa himself.

On land, a conventional reindeer can pull no more than 114 kg. Even granting that the "flying" reindeer could pull ten times the normal amount, the job can't be done with eight or even nine of them, Santa would need 360,000 of them. This increases the payload, not counting the weight of the sleigh, another 54,000 tons, or roughly seven times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth (the ship, not the monarch). 600,000 tons

Traveling at 1045.5 km per second creates enormous air resistance-this would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer would absorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each. In short, they would burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and creating deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team would be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second, or right about the time Santa reached the fifth house on his trip.

Not that it matters, however, since Santa, as a result of accelerating from a dead stop to 650 m.p.s. in .001 seconds, would be subjected to acceleration forces of 17,500 g's. A 113 kg Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by 1,954,701 kg of
force, instantly crushing his bones and organs.

Big BIG Breakdown for several teams in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks,after a perfect 6-0 start falls and loses two straight games. The LA Lakers, arguably the best team in the NBA, loses to the Detroit Pistons. After looking at both of the games, I can safely say that it was a defensive breakdown for both teams. Not enough will power and strength to defend,being too confident and too satisfied with their position in the rankings.

On the BRIGHTER SIDE
The Cleveland Cavaliers have won 9 straight games and have moved to 9-2. Woohoo! Go LeBron and the Cavs!

I would like to dedicate a song to the teams in the NBA,especially the LA Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks.Enjoy!

Boston Celtics

After watching several Boston Celtics game, I found out their key to winning games. The Celtics would give their opponents the chance to score in the first 2 quarters of the game. This can be seen during last season's playoffs where the Lakers out scored the Celtics by 24 point, as well as the recent Boston game against the Raptors,where the Raptors were up by 20+ points during the half. However, the key to their wins is this-their defense steps up a whole lot during the 3rd and 4th quarters, and by using defense to fuel their offense, the Celtics climb back up and get a comfortable lead with 3 mins left in the game.

This is a very different style of play from the other NBA teams,who try to build up a lead early. The Boston Celtics don't do that. They let you score,but place extreme pressure during the second half to cut down the lead. By doing so,the exert more pressure on the opposing team,who is seeing their 20+ point lead being cut down to a single digit lead.

Thus, I believe the key to defeat the Celtics is consistent scoring, as well as top notch defending the full 48mins of the game. It must be a combination of both and not one only. In this season, the team that would most probably execute this is the LA Lakers

The Boston Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks 103-102! Man,that was a close one for both teams. To me,winning by a point is not winning and I still believe that the Hawks have the substance to carry on and finally beat powerhouses such as Boston. I haven't seen the highlights yet but I will put the link up here once it is on nba.com.

Now,the Hawks have to pick themselves up and prove themselves over the next few games. 23 November (Singapore date),the Hawks will be moving to Cleveland to take on King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, a must watch!

NBA Western Conference

Now, its time to take a look a the Wild Wild West!

Dallas Mavericks. Jason Kidd,Dirk, not gonna work at all. Nope. No way. Houston Rockets with Ron Artest, Yao Ming and T Mac, they have to pump up and jia you if they want to win a championship,but still they are not my favorites to go far. Memphis Grizzlies, with OJ Mayo, Rudy Gay. Young team and its not their time yet, but it will be soon,if the horrors of trade does not kick in and steal away their promising players. New Orleans Hornets will reach the Western Final, although I doubt that they will win it. The San Antonio Spurs..no chance! 06-07 was their last chance in years to win the championship.

I like the new look Denver Nuggets with Chaucey Billups. I think that he will help them a lot. But the lack consistency and fire power. Minnesota Timberwolves,OKC thunder...not gonna make it. Utah Jazz will make a run for it,but they will fall short. Portland Trailbalzers too.

LA Clippers still CMI (cannot make it) even after the addition of star point guard Baron Davis and defensive star Marcus Camby. Golden State Warriors too can't make it without good firepower. Sacramento Kings , no way. Phoenix Suns is too old and their young players are not good enough to step up.

That leaves us with my favourites to win the West and the NBA championship. the LA Lakers.
Strong team,good depth,good bench. Besides the strong starters, I like Trevor Ariza, willing to play as a team and contribute. I also like Jordan Farmar, a good point guard that can step up. Thus Lakers will win it all this season.

NBA Eastern Conference

Ok. Now I'm gonna talk about the NBA and my predictions for the 2008-2009 season.
Starting with the EASTERN CONFERENCE.

Firstly, the 07-08 champions, Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics are still going strong with their Big 3, KG,Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. However,seeing from their first few games of the season, the Celtics have lost some of their drive. I mean, Indiana Pacers,beat the World Champions?!?! However they still can make a run for that championship again if they have the same drive. This is also their last season to do so before the Big 3 gets too old.

Next,my Cleveland Cavaliers. They need to use their guards,LeBron needs to give the ball up sometimes. Otherwise, their good and are my favorites to win the Eastern Conference.

I will be skipping some teams in the Conference (like Indiana)

The New York Knicks have a chance this year to make the playoffs after a disappointing season. I like the new look Raptors with JO. But the team has to work hard to beat powerhouses Cleveland,Detroit and Boston.

The Chicago Bulls are the underdogs. With Derrick Rose, they might create something. However a guard overload and a lack of post players will not help them.Drew Gooden is definetly not a center. At 6'10", he should be playing the Power Forward Position. The Bulls should acquire a center (one of the Lopez brothers?) in exchange for their guards. They also need a bigger and more consitent 3 point shooter.

The Atlanta Hawks are HOT!!! Currently 6-0,they would most probably end up in the conference simis or finals. Miami is also coming back with Wade and newly acquired Beasly. The Orlando Magic need to be more consitent,hungry and focus if they want to make their mark.As for the wizards,bucks,pacers,bobcats,nets...its not their year yet.

Finally, the Detroit Pistons. With newly acquired AI. They might be the team in the Eastern Finals. But after all,he's AI who fell out with his coach ("Practice?! I mean we're talking about Practice?!?!") So if the Pistons can gel together, they can win a championship
